Yesterday, for the first time, I played underwater hockey with the Minnesota Loons. What could be more fun than donning mask, snorkel, fins, glove, headgear, and stick, and heading for the bottom of the pool to whack a 3 1/2 pound puck around with a group of swimmers? Some Loons have been playing for 30 years. I’m just learning how to control my body and keep it horizontal on the bottom. Once I learn that I’ll be better able to control the puck. Then I’ll be able to start learning game strategy. Last night it was confusing watching the experts play.
It was great exercise. If you’re interested in trying to play, come join us at the Oxford Pool in St. Paul on Wednesday nights starting at 8:30pm. And we go to Pizza Luce afterwards.
